EXPLOSIVES SAFETY SPECIALIST

  • You will survey facilities, monitoring safe work methods used in Trident II Missile component processing, storage, assembly, renovation, modifications, and transportation.
  • You will perform duties as safety Loading Officer (SLO) during all explosive and strategic weapons (TRIDENT II) and torpedo on-load and off-load operations at the Explosive Handling Wharf.
  • You will perform inspections of all explosive operating buildings, magazines, and workplace ensuring compliance with explosive safety and NAVOSH standards.
  • You will conduct risk assessments to recommend corrective action and hazard control measures for deficiencies to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • You will assist the Explosive Safety Officer in reviewing all facility site-approval documents and facility modifications and all requests for deviations from established explosive safety standards.

Requirements

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical guidance for the completion of explosives safety reviews, inspections, or surveys; and ensuring/reviewing explosives safety programs for compliance, regulations and standards.
